Judge Anthony J. Carpinello State Supreme Court Justice For Immediate Release: August 15, 2008 Second Round of TV & Radio Ads for Judge Tony Carpinello Television and radio commercials in support of State Supreme Court Justice Anthony Carpinello are back on the airwaves, with the commercials noting the rating of Judge Carpinello by an independent judicial screening panel. The commercials began airing during the second week of August and mark the second time commercials in support of Judge Carpinello have aired this summer. The first round of commercials aired on local television and radio stations during the month of June. The second round of commercials is expected to air through the end of August. “Our first round of commercials was received very well, based on the people I have spoken to during my campaigning throughout the district this summer. We are committed to reaching out to everyone in the district, and presenting my qualifications and experience to the people,” said Judge Carpinello. The commercials now airing note that Judge Carpinello has been rated qualified by the Independent Judicial Election Qualification Commission for the Third Department. Judge Carpinello is the only judge seeking election in the Third Judicial District to have been found qualified by the commission. The rating was given based on a review of Judge Carpinello’s response to a detailed commission questionnaire. The commission includes 15 members, including lawyers and non-lawyers, named by the Chief Judge of the state, the presiding justice of the Appellate Division, the president of the New York State Bar Association and local bar associations. Judicial candidates are either rated “qualified” or “unqualified” by the commission.  Along with noting the “qualified” rating by Independent Judicial Election Qualification Commission, the commercials also highlight Judge Carpinello’s decades of experience and the fact he has resolved nearly 12,000 cases as judge. The commercials are one venue chosen by Judge Carpinello to reach out to voters. The campaign has also utilized a website, www.tonycarpinello.org, and Judge Carpinello has continued personal campaigning throughout the district throughout the spring and summer. Judge Carpinello has served as a State Supreme Court Justice since 1995, following a distinguished legal career and decades of public service. His ability and experience was recognized by his selection as an associate justice of the Appellate Division Third Department in 1996. The Appellate Division entertains appeals from all trial level courts in 28 counties in Upstate New York. As judge and attorney, Judge Carpinello’s experience has been recognized with his service as an instructor at various programs and training courses for attorneys and hearing officers on subjects including legal actions involving municipalities, state appellate practice and business matters. Judge Carpinello was recently appointed by Chief Judge Judith Kaye as the Chair of the statewide Continuing Legal Education Board. The Third Judicial District stretches through the Capital Region into the Hudson Valley and includes the counties of Rensselaer, Albany, Columbia, Ulster, Schoharie, Greene and Sullivan. Judge Carpinello has presided over trials in the majority of counties in the Third Judicial District along with New York County.
