Carpinello State Supreme Court Justice For Immediate Release: September 22, 2008 Judge Carpinello Earns Conservative Nomination Democrats Also Give Strong Support to Judge State Supreme Court Justice Anthony Carpinello received unanimous support at the Conservative judicial convention and surprisingly received strong bi-partisan support for re-election at the Democratic nominating convention on September 18. One day after unanimously receiving the Republican endorsement, Judge Carpinello came within two votes of securing the Democratic nomination in Albany. A series of well-known Democrats nominated Judge Carpinello at the convention, saying Judge Carpinello deserved to receive bi-partisan support because of his record of judical experience and excellence. “I am honored that so many Democrats support me for re-election, even though I had already received the Republican endorsement. The bi-partisan support from so many prominent Democrats is definitely appreciated,” said Judge Carpinello. Following the Democratic convention, Judge Carpinello received the unanimous support of Conservatives at the party’s judicial nominating convention in Saugerties. Judge Carpinello thanked members of the commission for their strong support. “So many members of the Conservative party have been there since I announced my re-election and I greatly appreciate the confidence they have placed in me,” said Judge Carpinello. Judge Carpinello is the only judge who is now in the race for the Third Judicial District to have been rated qualified by the Independent Judicial Election Qualification Commission for the Third Judicial District. Judicial candidates either receive a rating of “qualified” or “unqualified” after submitting to review by the IJEQC. “I am proud to be the only judge in the race to have been rated qualified by the respected Independent Judicial Election Qualification Commission,” said Judge Carpinello. Judge Carpinello has served as a State Supreme Court Justice since 1995, following a distinguished legal career and decades of public service. His ability and experience were recognized by his selection as an associate justice of the Appellate Division Third Department in 1996. The Appellate Division entertains appeals from all trial level courts in 28 counties in Upstate New York. As an Associate Justice of the Court, Judge Carpinello has participated in deciding or resolving over 12,000 reported cases. The Third Judicial District stretches through the Capital Region into the Hudson Valley and includes the counties of Rensselaer, Albany, Columbia, Ulster, Schoharie, Greene and Sullivan. Judge Carpinello has presided over trials in the majority of counties in the Third Judicial District along with New York County.
